As our June sales numbers will show you, breaking records just comes with the territory for our favorite automaker here at BMW of Des Moines. As much as we'd like to take credit for these milestones, the credit is due to our new and used cars. Then again, not every record is a record worth celebrating, especially the ones that are highly illegal.

In case you aren't well-versed in the layout of New York City, there's roadway that drivers can follow that can take them around the entire island in one big loop. If you're following the speed limit (which you always should be), it's possible to drive the entire loop in 41 minutes' time. Unfortunately, some people out there just want to watch the world burn, people that would drive the loop in just 26 minutes.

For a while there, that was the unofficial record for the fastest time someone's driven around the isle of Manhattan. Just recently, one Christopher Adam Tang decided to break that record and cement himself as every driver's worst nightmare.

He got behind the wheel of his BMW Z4, put a video camera on his dashboard to record his attempt and then proceeded to break more traffic laws than we can count. He stopped at six red lights along the way, somehow managed to avoid detection by police and was back where he started in 24 minutes.

When he posted the footage of his new world record onto YouTube, the NYPD was not pleased. Before long, they tracked Tang down, dragged him out of his apartment in handcuffs and impounded his vehicle to send the message home.

With that said, don't be like Mr. Tang, it just isn't worth it. But if it's a leisurely spin in the 2013 BMW Z4 that you're after, your test drive awaits you at our dealership here in Urbandale, IA. Leisurely's the way to go.
