As proud as we are of all the awards that these new and used cars of ours keep picking up here at BMW of Des Moines, the truth is that they only count for so much if the masses aren't getting behind them. After all, the auto industry is a business, and if you want to succeed in business, you need to sell some product. But lucky for us, we work for BMW.
Now that we're well into July, it's probably high time that we filled you in on the record-setting sales numbers that our favorite automaker posted in June. To give you some background, BMW sold a whopping 27,720 vehicles in June of last year and we celebrated like there was no tomorrow. Fast-forward to present day and, wouldn't you know it, we find out that they sold 33,645 units last month. That's a 21.4% year-over-year sales increase and you better believe we got the slow clap going.
Needless to say, the higher-ups are pretty excited about it, too.
"There is nothing like an abundance of new and popular models to drive sales, resulting in new U.S. sales records for BMW . . . and pre-owned BMW," says Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW North America. "We started this year with confidence and optimism; the sales results have verified our viewpoint and we are very much looking forward to the second half with more new models on the way including the new [BMW X5]."1
So until that beauty makes its way to our showroom, feel free to see for yourself why America can't get enough of these best-sellers at our dealership here in Urbandale, IA. After all, if you can't trust your fellow countrymen, who can you trust?
