The Detroit Auto Show took up nearly the entire automotive news cycle last week as car makers from across the globe flocked to the Motor City to show off their latest and greatest projects. There were a lot of inspiring vehicle on display, but true fans of automotive performance were focused on one thing: the reveal of the new 2015 M3 Sedan and the 2015 M4 Coupe
The M Series of BMW vehicles is certainly one of the most popular lines of performance vehicles popular amongst average consumers, and for the coming model year the company has gone back to the drawing board to update these legendary vehicles with a new drivetrain and some fresh new looks.
Of course any performance enthusiast is going to be primarily concerned with the changes under the hood. The old V8 engine has been given the boot in favor of the new 3.0-liter inline V6 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. This engine is smaller than the previous model, but size isn't everything and the new powerplant is more powerful than the V8 with 425 horsepower, 406 lb.-ft. of torque, and a zero-to-sixty sprint time of 3.9 seconds.
Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, President of the BMW M Brand, commented, "…Meticulous and passion-fueled development work has underpinned the creation of tow high-performance sports cars that set new standards in terms of overall concept, precision and agility."1
Company officials have announced that we can expect the new BMW M3 and M4 models to arrive at dealerships like BMW of Des Moines sometime over the summer. Until then you can always learn more by visiting us and speaking with our knowledgeable staff. Our showroom is located at 9997 Hickman Rd. Urbandale, IA.
