Slated to be officially unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in January, the all-new BMW 2 Series models have been an exciting topic of conversation for quite some time. And, as you'd expect, as the date of the annual event in the Motor City approaches the discussion surrounding the coupes is becoming increasingly hot.
Excitingly, BMW has recently added fuel to the fire. You see, the German automaker has announced the performance and fuel-economy specs for the forthcoming pair of 2 Series coupes.
Let's start with the 2014 BMW 228i. Equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which radiates an ample 240hp, the sprightly coupe can hit sixty mph from a standstill in a mere 5.4 seconds. Also constructing the powertrain is a standard eight-speed automatic transmission that helps the coupe to achieve an efficient 23mpg in the city and 35mpg on the highway.
Next up is the performance-dedicated M235i Coupe. Given the luxury automaker's M treatment, this vehicle adds an M adaptive suspension and Sport braking system, and is fitted with a 332hp 3.0-liter inline engine. These BMW parts enable the model to sprint from zero-to-sixty in 4.8 seconds, and earn 22mpg city/32mpg highway with the standard eight-speed automatic transmission.
Suffice it to say; we're looking forward to seeing these two coupes arrive here at BMW of Des Moines in 2014.
