The All-New 2018 BMW M5 Gets AWD For the First Time, and 600 Horsepower

The current generation of the M5 is known for being a difficult beast to tame. When the M Performance division set out to create the all-new sixth-gen model, they decided to give it better manners without dulling its teeth. Enter the all-new 2018 BMW M5, which offers M-tuned xDrive AWD for the first time, and a 3.2-second path to sixty from a stop.

Yet the fact that BMW has added all-wheel drive to a model that was purely RWD before is bound to be a sticking point for some. That’s why there’s a control in the cabin that lets you step down the front wheel involvement to zero between three modes. After all, the next best thing to having 600 horsepower under your foot is having the agency to decide how it’s delivered. BMW has also added some mean M Performance gear, ranging from Compound brakes to a unique steering system. We have a feeling enthusiasts will feel right at home behind the wheel.

To see what the latest M Performance models are made of, we invite you to contact our BMW dealership in Urbandale, IA with your questions. We can also schedule you for a test drive at your convenience.
